About Speed Metal

Speed Metal started in my parents garage, long before I even had a driver’s license. Back when my family was racing INEX asphalt legend cars, my dad and I came up with a name for our little operation: Speed Metal Garage. It was nothing big, just a name to hang on what we were doing wrenching, learning, and having fun.

Fast forward to the early days of driving me and my buddies wrenching on our beaters, straight-piping exhausts, gutting interiors, rattle-canning wheels, and going heavy on the Plasti Dip. That early love for cars evolved fast, but my background in competitive oval racing which started when I was just 10 years old gave me a head start in understanding what it takes to really build and drive something with purpose.

As I drifted away from circle track racing and into off-road fabrication and prerunners, the name evolved too. Speed Metal Garage became Speed Metal Motorsports. I was still racing for another team and family friend 5K motorsports in circle track but started flying the Speed Metal banner on my own trucks and cars from local drift events to Midwest Dirtfest. Due to not only the heavy financials but also time commitment and lack of crew guys to run my own circle track program, I made the decision to get out of circle track and into just Prerunners. That then transitioned into my full love of drifting but Speed Metal hasn't made much progress in that time still just something I had a passion for.

Then I started seeing someone else using the Speed Metal name for events doing the exact same kind of stuff: prerunners, drifting and it did not align with how we build vehicles or our style. That’s when it hit me I had no protection on the name I’d been building my identity around. I knew it was time to take it seriously.

I trademarked the name Speed Metal and dropped “Motorsports” to open it up to more than just racing to let it breathe as a brand, a culture, a lifestyle. From that moment, it’s been a full grind. Long nights in the shop, chasing the vision, and trying to build something real something others who live this life can connect with.

Speed Metal isn’t just a name it’s who I am, what I build, and how I live. It’s for the drivers, the builders, the fabricators, and the diehards who live for the late nights, the busted knuckles, and the sound of limiter. This brand was made for me but it’s for you too.
